A Room That Remembers

On Aaron’s installation at Frida Bobby’s gallery

Freshly printed portrait strips on the gallery table

Day by day, the room changes.

Each visitor is photographed, each passing moment given a place to stay. Faces gather on the walls like a slow tide: some posing, some caught mid-laugh or mid-thought, many simply full of joy. With every new portrait, the room becomes a little more crowded, a little more alive. The whole is never quite finished, because the door keeps opening.

Portraits of visitors on the gallery wall

Within moments of entering, I was no longer only looking. I was part of what was being looked at.

Everyone arrives for their own reasons, bringing something of their life into the room. I found myself among people I may never meet, wondering about the stories behind their smiles and the lives that continued beyond the walls.

We had shared a space, a moment, perhaps only a few minutes, and now we belonged to the same wall. The same art.

Are we ever really strangers once we’ve been part of the same picture?
